Sequoia staff members have been racking up the accolades recently!
- Tannaz Heaney (Kindergarten) was one of only five finalists for MDUSD Teacher of the Year.
- Bev Joukoff (2nd Grade) was one of only six nominees for Pleasant Hill Educator of the Year.
- Terri Nixon’s group, the MDUSD Garden Education Project, won the 7th Annual Green Community Award from the City of Pleasant Hill.
Here’s what the City had to say about the Garden team:
“Green Community Award: MDUSD Garden Education Program – The MDUSD (Farm 2 School) Garden Education project continues to expand a district-wide program that supports science and garden education while cultivating environmental stewardship. This collaborative project is currently in two Pleasant Hill elementary schools – Fair Oaks and Sequoia, with successful and replicable education programs in place that teach children about gardening and nutrition, emphasizing Next Generation Science Standards.”
