Each September, the City of Pleasant Hill schedules a Community Service Day. For the past few years, Sequoia Elementary has been designated as one of the project sites, where volunteers can sign up to come work. The event normally runs from 9am – noon. Volunteers from the PH community and our school weed, sweep, plant new plants, pick up trash, and more. In the past, we also have asked volunteers to assemble storage sheds and school equipment, for example.
We are desperately looking for a parent volunteer to coordinate our Clean-Up Day efforts this year. Plans are already underway, but we need someone to help coordinate efforts leading up to and on the day of the event. Duties include working with school staff to organize the list of tasks to be accomplished, soliciting donations of plants and such from local businesses, and coordinating volunteers on the day of the event. Please contact Derek Mims if you are interested in helping out!
Of course, we also need volunteers on Clean-Up Day to help with a variety of cleaning and beautification projects around the school. Please plan to join us for this fun morning of community service! Register with the City of PH as a volunteer here, or just show up at Sequoia on Saturday morning, Sept 28.
