ACE Policies

ENROLLMENT:  The ACE program is open to any student in kindergarten through 5th grades at Sequoia Elementary School, space allowing, and on a first-come, first-served basis. There may be grade restrictions placed on certain classes. 

CHANGE FEE:  A $25 change fee will be imposed for ANY changes after registration is closed. NO changes/refunds will be made once classes have begun. Changes include: adding a class, canceling a class, or switching to a different class.  

REFUNDS:  Refunds will not be issued after classes have begun if a student withdraws or is expelled.

ATTENDANCE:  More than two unexplained absences may be grounds for removal from the ACE class.  ACE instructors will check attendance at the beginning of each class.  It is not the ACE instructor’s responsibility to look for students who have not come to class.

TRANSPORTATION, PICKUP, AND DAYCARE:  It is the parent’s responsibility to provide transportation and/or make arrangements to get their child(ren) to and from ACE classes.  All students should report to their ACE classes immediately following the school dismissal bell; daycare students DO NOT report to daycare before their ACE class.  Kindergarteners are an exception to this rule, as they are dismissed from school earlier than the other grades.  Kindergarteners should either be picked up at normal dismissal time and brought back to school for their ACE class, or should go to daycare in between.  Daycare will assist with transporting Kindergarteners to and from ACE classes, but it is ultimately the parent’s responsibility to ensure arrangements have been made.  After ACE class, parents will be expected to pick their child(ren) up in front of the classroom, ON TIME!  Daycare students will walk to daycare from the ACE classroom.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS:  If an ACE class is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, ACE will try to reach the parent/guardian by phone using the emergency number provided.  If ACE is unable to reach you or ACE does not have advance notice, please remind your child(ren) to always go to the school office in the event an ACE class is not in session at its scheduled time or location.  Cancelled classes will be rescheduled based on the availability of the instructor.

CODE OF CONDUCT:  Students are expected to follow the Code of Conduct as outlined in the Sequoia Elementary Handbook.  Students are expected to be respectful of all adults and leaders as well as other students.  Students are expected to make appropriate use of the Multi-Use Room (MUR), classrooms and desks, library, and technology lab.  Inappropriate conduct may result in expulsion from the ACE class. 

WAIVER OF LIABILITY:  PARENTS/GUARDIANS ENROLLING STUDENTS IN ACE CLASSES CONSENT TO THEIR STUDENT(S) OR ELECTRONIC REGISTRANT(S) PARTICIPATING IN ACE CLASSES AND AGREE THAT THE PARENTS/GUARDIANS ASSUME THE RISK OF ACCIDENT OR INJURIES INCURRED FROM WHATEVER CAUSE IN CONNECTION THEREWITH.  PARENTS/GUARDIANS RELEASE THE SEQUOIA ELEMENTARY PARENTS ASSOCIATION (SPA), ALL ITS OFFICERS/BOARD MEMBERS, AND ACE COMMITTEE MEMBERS FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY FOR ANY SUCH ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES.  PARENTS/GUARDIANS ALSO AGREE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM CLASSES AND RELEASE SPA, ALL ITS OFFICERS/BOARD MEMBERS, AND ACE COMMITTEE MEMBERS FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY RELATED TO THE STUDENT’S TRANSPORTATION.
