Sequoia’s Art Appreciation program introduces our elementary school children to the world of fine art. The program is designed so that, each month, our parent volunteers present biographical/historical information about a particular artist to their class. Each lesson culminates in an interactive art project that the children create to demonstrate the subject matter of the lesson taught. Each of the grade levels receives a different lesson every month.
The lesson materials are scripted so parent volunteers need only have the desire to help in the classroom for a successful lesson to be presented. No specific talent or education is required by the parent volunteer to teach the lesson.
The program’s lessons represent every historical age known to man, from prehistoric to modern, with artwork representing a myriad of diverse cultures and races as well.
