The Sequoia Composting program started in the spring of 2011. In 2011, we diverted 1,700 pounds of lunchtime waste in a three month period, and generated 250 pounds of sifted compost. We are continuing to grow our program each year. This year we have hopes of starting a Sequoia Garden where we will use the cured and sifted compost from lunch waste to feed and nourish our plants.
This program is a community effort of both student body (The Green Team) and parent involvement. We work together to make a positive impact on the environment.
